Imagine you live or work in a densely built-up, historically grown quarter of a large city - maybe you actually do. Then you know: the parking situation in these neighbourhoods has always been difficult, now it is a nightmare!

The search for a parking space alone takes up to half an hour or more every day. Often you park several blocks away from your destination and then have to walk a long way - even at night! Not to mention the emissions that vehicles produce in the process.

In the future, this situation will continue to worsen: individual traffic continues to grow, and cars are also getting bigger and wider - a danger for pedestrians too, especially children! The result: the quality of life in the neighbourhood continues to decline.

Conventional parking vs. fully automated parking system

So what are the alternatives to improve the parking situation in such densely built-up neighbourhoods? Ultimately, municipalities, property owners and planners have only two alternative options:

CENTRAL UNDERGROUND CAR PARK IN CONVENTIONAL FORM

With central neighbourhood garages or similar, many additional parking spaces can be created in one fell swoop. The problem here is that a suitable building site must first be found, ownership must be clarified, possible contaminated sites must be identified, existing water, electricity and communication lines must be rerouted and existing buildings must be demolished. That alone can take years. After that, you have a noisy construction site in the neighbourhood for months or even years. If you are lucky, you will later live or work in the immediate vicinity of the new garage and have only a short walk to your car. If you are not, you may have to walk a long way. Not an optimal solution, neither from a planning nor an economic nor a user point of view.

DECENTRALISED AUTOMATIC PARKING SYSTEMS

This approach is more fragmented, but it usually takes much less time from the decision to the start of construction, as fewer decision-makers are involved.

With WÖHR solutions, new parking spaces can be created in residential and office buildings, in commercially used buildings and administrative premises, etc. Existing multi-storey and underground car parks can also be extended without the need for new space or the need to increase the height.

CENTRAL AUTOMATIC PARKING SYSTEMS

Compared to conventional underground parking, parking systems can offer several other advantages in addition to space savings. The biggest advantage for the users is the always constant parking space and the quick removal of the vehicle. Our project, which was designed according to this concept, is the Donnersberger Straße in Munich. Underground, 284 parking spaces are available for residents, which can be parked on via 4 transfer cabins.

Calle montalbán 11, madrid

Sustainable parking space densification for a superlative redevelopment project: In the centre of Madrid, a fully automatic WÖHR Multiparker 740 contributes to the reduced ecological footprint of the Montalbán 11 building.

As "the most exclusive luxury residential building in the whole of Madrid", the magazine Architectural Digest describes the project. The historic seven-storey building with its magnificent façade is located in the artists' quarter Los Jerónimos, close to the famous Prado Museum. Sustainability was the top priority in the comprehensive redesign, from energy efficiency to the use of environmentally friendly materials and integration into the local ecosystem. The fact that Montalbán 11 can carry a BREEAM Very Good certification for particularly environmentally friendly buildings is also thanks to the fully automatic WÖHR Multiparker 740 in the underground.

From bank safe to parking safe - Where bank customers used to go in and out and conduct money transactions of all kinds, fully automatic automobile valuables are now deposited.

In the course of the architecturally almost masterfully planned renovation of the historic building of a former bank in the heart of The Hague in the Netherlands, WÖHR Autoparksysteme GmbH was able to realise a WÖHR Parksafe 583 perfectly hidden behind glass. With 52 parking spaces on 9 above-ground levels and an area of only approx. 135 m², the fully automatic car parking system offers convenient, secure parking in a very confined space.

In addition to the preservation of historical building fabric, the attention to detail evident everywhere in the building is also continued in our parking system. Through a large window behind his desk, the owner can always take a look into his parking system and at his favourite car from Stuttgart, which is always stored in exactly this parking space and set centre stage by special lighting accents. A very special project by a very special owner.

GRAN VIA, MADRID

High-quality flats and 320 parking spaces on WÖHR Parksafe 582/583 have been built on the boulevard Gran Via in Madrid.

The Gran Via Capital in Madrid is home to Spain's most innovative automatic car park with 320 parking spaces from WÖHR. In the long and very narrow building cubature, which did not allow the planning of a conventional underground car park, the driver reaches one of the five comfortable transfer cabins by means of a clever traffic routing.

An empty pallet is always available in the transfer cabin. Storage is confirmed at the operating terminal, the gates close and the car is automatically lowered into the underground storage area. The shuttle system is already waiting there with an empty pallet. The occupied pallet with the car is simultaneously exchanged for the empty pallet. The shuttle system of the Parksafe 582/583 now transports the car safely and reliably into the designated storage compartment. At the same time, the vertical lift transports the empty pallet into the transfer cabin, and the next parking operation can take place within a very short time. Thanks to this quick pallet change system, users enjoy fast access times.

WÖHR parklift

With our parking lifts, we double or triple the number of parking spaces in existing space. This is why they are often called duplex garages or double parkers. The parking lift rows with pit are for independent parking, the cars can be requested independently at any time. Parking lifts without a pit are for dependent parking and are ideal for single-family homes or car parks with valet parking.

Our Combilift systems are modular parking systems that can store vehicles on up to three levels and in up to four rows one behind the other. The new COMBILIFT generation is even more space-saving, even more flexible and even more powerful.

WÖHR PARKSAFE

If "parking ideas" are skyrocketing, it is very likely that one of these automatically controlled parking systems is involved. Following the principle of a shelf, the vehicles are parked in compartments on the right and left. This creates a tower, a shaft or a tower/shaft combination - entirely according to the individual project requirements. In the Parksafe models from WÖHR, a central lift is installed that transports the cars fully automatically to a free shelf compartment where they are stored safely against theft and vandalism.
